Who Are We?

This political party was conceived and created by the auroran sunset. The idea was formed in late 2003. Work on the party started in October 2004. The name and logo were created in late November 2004. The website was created in December 2004. The website and party opened its doors to the public on the 17th of April 2005.

All policy content is the work of the auroran sunset. He has been much influenced by the teachings of abelard. Other obvious influences are Heinlein, Hayek, Keynes and the great American experiment.

The Emancipation Party is not currently a political 'party' in the strictest sense. It is intended first as a policy organ that will provide varying degrees of endorsement to candidates with whom we find common ground for cooperation. We actively seek such like-minded individuals to stand for office on our platform and to pursue our policies in office. We expect all such individuals to explicitly and publicly state their agreements and differences with the template policies provided on this website, if they wish to be associated with, or endorsed by, the Emancipation Party.

The central template policies of the Emancipation Party will remain exclusively the views of the auroran sunset. However, we expect those who associate themselves with the Emancipation Party to follow their own consciences and to be responsible for their own acts. We hope for our members to attain office on the basis of their own individual merits, rather than as a party.

The Emancipation Party will not endorse, or otherwise support, socialists or socialist policies of any kind, Nazi, Communists or any other shade. Similarly for any other individuals who endorse policies incompatible with individualism, tolerance, responsibility or non-interference. The final decision for endorsement or any other association by the Emancipation Party rests with the auroran sunset. We welcome those unhappy with such an arrangement to form their own organisations with their own rules.
