Our Core Beliefs
We hold these truths to be self-evident: that no two men are ever created equal; nor can any two men ever become equal, no matter how hard others may try to force them. We believe law should be based on competence to both live independently and at the same time negotiate with other independent beings. Such ability is neither innate nor fixed, but comes from education that aims at independence, rather than dependence, and from the moral courage of the individual. Such education should be the right of any, not because such is 'natural law', but because it is in the interests of those who seek progress and a better world to both increase the numbers of productive and independent individuals, and to concurrently reducing the number of free-loaders, recidivists and underfoot 'adult' children. We at the Emancipation Party state that man has no inherent rights, but that he can only claim for himself those rights for which he is willing to stand up openly, and if necessary, fight for. We do not regard this as 'fair' or 'just', but it is the reality and must be acknowledged if we are to be free in more than word. We must acknowledge the reality of the world and of human psychology if we are to ever properly face the age-old challenge that is leaving a world better than the one we first found. We at the Emancipation Party do not trust government. Ever. Thus we aim for simple and robust Freedom of Information, where exceptions are not at the whim of the ruling party. We aim to make political corruption a crime of the highest order. Such corruption is a cancer that cuts to the heart of what allows a free society to remain free, and even grow more so. We aim to make recall and accountability a way of life for government, and the timing of such in the power of the franchised, rather than of their servants. We at the Emancipation Party believe that it is the rights of the government that should be enumerated, not those of the people. For government, if it is not explicitly allowed, it should be prohibited. The Emancipation Party is inclined to limit government rights to just one area: negotiating solutions to tragedy of the commons issues. However, we regard it as not ours to say what contracts different peoples chose to make with their servants. We have but one warning: caveat emptor. © 14/4/2005, the auroran sunset.
